Ian Staniforth

Ian Staniforth, Fleet Warden, has been engaged in water supply development at home and overseas since 1958 and his experience embraces most activities of the sector from operations to feasibility studies for and the implementation of capital schemes.  His professional activities have included service with UK utilities, consultants, international funding agencies and an investment bank.  His current post of Senior (Engineering) Consultant Reservoirs with RWE Thames Water requires that his focus be principally directed to issues associated with the safety of dams and their security.

Ian has an MSc in water resources technology from the University of Birmingham and is very actively engaged with the activities of the ICE and CIWEM of which he is a Fellow.  As an external examiner for the UEL he necessarily keeps abreast of technical developments in the water supply industry.

His recreational interests are diverse and include flamenco (pura!), woodwork. Bonsai, marquetry and all things of a scientific nature when the demands of three border collies permit!
