Information for Teachers

Background
An amalgamation of several professional bodies, the Worshipful Company of Water Conservators was set up to promote all aspects of water; its use, its environmental study and its management.

The Worshipful Company of Water Conservators membership includes experts in the fields of water engineering as well as many of the country's major water companies. It lays particular emphasis on raising public awareness of the treatment and purification of water and the environmental issues associated with its use.

Aims
The education pages are intended to raise awareness in school children of the importance of water, how it is 'managed' for public consumption, the processes involved in its filtration and the importance of efficient and environmental uses of water.

National Curriculum
On the educational pages of the Worshipful Company of Water Conservators website you'll find many useful references to a range of topics relevant to the National Curriculum.

The pages should be particularly useful to students studying science, geographic and environmental areas of the National Curriculum at primary, GCSE and 'A' level. However, the vital nature of water and the environmental necessity for water treatment means that you should be able to find a range of other curriculum relevant content. Mathematics, Design Technology, IT, Numeracy and Key skills all feature on the pages.

Within the Primary Schools Page you'll find scientific method, Design technology elements and mathematical skills. Elements of the Key skills are also featured on this page.

GCSE pages contain geographical, mathematical and scientific elements specific to those students.

The 'A' level pages contain more complex information on the chemistry of water.
