Research & Other Projects

The Trust makes small contributions for expenses relating to environmental research. A recent example is the grant made to researchers at Aberystwith University to investigate the potential of Yellow Rattle, a grass parasite, for grass control and the consequential reduction in mowing costs on motorway verges and other public spaces.

The Company has a long standing link with the Maidstone Sea Cadets and The Trust has recently contributed towards the funding of a new rowing boat. The Company also makes an annual award towards the cost of a berth on the TS Royalist to give the Best Cadet the experience of sailing on this square rig brig training ship.

The Trust also supports families of people formerly engaged in the water and environment industries where hardship has been identified.

The Company and the Trust also support the annual Lord Mayor’s Charity Appeal and the Magical Taxi Tour to the Disneyland Resort in Paris, organised for sick children by the Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers.
