Webinar 35: Sustainable Resource Management
Webinar 35: Sustainable Resource Management – delivering Net Zero, a sector in transition and the need for new green skills
23 October 2023
Presented by Dr Adam Read, Chief External Affairs and Sustainability Officer, SUEZ Recycling Recovery UK
About the Webinar
In this presentation Adam will reflect on the evolving UK waste & resource policy landscape, in particular the progress and implications of Extended Producer Responsibility, Deposit Return Schemes, the Plastic Tax and Consistent Collections reforms on UK waste & resource management solutions and services. He will identify the scale of the opportunity for the
sector to deliver Net Zero solutions both for our sector but also for the sectors we support and identify just what the risks and rewards might be for the sector given the competing interests of other sectors that are ‘going green’…. Finally, he will dig deep and get out his crystal ball showcasing what the sector might look like in 2030 and 2035, what core skills and competencies are needed, what the scope for sector expansion is in terms of jobs and new careers, and just what skills and training will be needed tomorrow if we are to prepare for this rapid sector transition. Adam will field any policy, implementation or green skills questions and help lift the lid on the sector’s evolution with a few anecdotes, tales from the front line, and a behind the scenes look at the politics of waste!
